কলা অনুষদ (১৯২১)

কলা অনুষদ ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অনুষদগুলোর মধ্যে প্রাচীনতম ও সর্ববৃহৎ। এই অনুষদে বিভাগের সংখ্যা ১৭। বিভাগগুলো হলো : বাংলা, ইংরেজী, আরবী, উর্দু, ফারসি ভাষা ও সাহিত্য, সংস্কৃত, পালি এন্ড বুদ্ধিস্ট স্টাডিজ, ইতিহাস, দর্শন, ইসলামিক স্টাডিজ, ইসলামের ইতিহাস ও সংস্কৃতি, তথ্যবিজ্ঞান ও গ্রন্থাগার ব্যবস্থাপনা, থিয়েটার এন্ড পারফরম্যান্স স্টাডিজ, সংগীত, ভাষাবিজ্ঞান, বিশ্বধর্ম ও সংস্কৃতি এবং নৃত্যকলা বিভাগ। বিভাগগুলির অ্যাকাডেমিক কার্যক্রম কলা অনুষদের মাধ্যমে সম্পন্ন হয়। এ অনুষদে শিক্ষার্থীর সংখ্যা ৬৬৪০। প্রতি শিক্ষাবর্ষে ২৩৭৮ জন ছাত্র-ছাত্রী ভর্তি করা হয়। কর্মরত সম্মানিত শিক্ষকের সংখ্যা ৩১৪ জন।

কলা অনুষদের বিভাগসমূহে ‘খ’ ইউনিটের মাধ্যমে প্রথম বর্ষ স্নাতক সম্মান শ্রেণিতে ছাত্র-ছাত্রী ভর্তি করা হয়। এ ছাড়াও কলা অনুষদের ব্যবস্থাপনায় সামাজিক বিজ্ঞান অনুষদের অন্তর্গত ─ অর্থনীতি, লোকপ্রশাসন, সমাজবিজ্ঞান, গণযোগাযোগ ও সাংবাদিকতা, রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান, আন্তর্জাতিক সম্পর্ক, নৃবিজ্ঞান, শান্তি ও সংঘর্ষ অধ্যয়ন, উইমেন এন্ড জেন্ডার স্টাডিজ, পপুলেশন সায়েন্সেস, টেলিভিশন চলচ্চিত্র ও ফটোগ্রাফি, ক্রিমিনোলজি, যোগাযোগ বৈকল্য বিভাগ এবং জাপান স্টাডিজ বিভাগ; আইন অনুষদের আইন বিভাগ; জীববিজ্ঞান অনুষদের মনোবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ; আর্থ এন্ড এনভায়রনমেন্টাল সায়েন্সেস অনুষদের ভূগোল ও পরিবেশ বিভাগ এবং পাঁচটি ইনস্টিটিউট যথা: সমাজকল্যাণ ও গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউট, শিক্ষা ও গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউট, স্বাস্থ্য অর্থনীতি ইনস্টিটিউট, ইনস্টিটিউট অব ডিজাস্টার ম্যানেজমেন্ট এন্ড ভালনারেবিলিটি স্টাডিজ এবং আধুনিক ভাষা ইনস্টিটিউট-এ ‘খ’ ইউনিটের মাধ্যমে প্রথম বর্ষ স্নাতক সম্মান শ্রেণিতে ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের ভর্তি করা হয়।

কলাভবনের বিভিন্ন অনুষদের জন্য শ্রেণিকক্ষ বণ্টন, মিড-টার্ম ও  সেমিস্টার ফাইনাল পরীক্ষার কক্ষ বণ্টনসহ বিভিন্ন অ্যাকাডেমিক ও প্রশাসনিক কাজ এ অনুষদের মাধ্যমে হয়ে আসছে। কলাভবন ও লেকচার থিয়েটার ভবনের রক্ষণাবেক্ষণের দায়িত্ব অনেকাংশে কলা অনুষদের ডিন পালন করেন। এ অনুষদ থেকে বাংলা ও ইংরেজি ভাষায় দুটি গবেষণা পত্রিকা প্রকাশিত হয়। কলা অনুষদের উদ্যোগে কলাভবন ও লেকচার থিয়েটার ভবনে ব্রডব্যান্ড সংযোগ প্রদান করা হয়েছে। অনুষদের সব বিভাগীয় অফিস, সেমিনার এবং শিক্ষকবৃন্দের চাহিদা অনুযায়ী তাঁদের অফিস-কক্ষে ইন্টারনেট সংযোগ দেওয়া হয়েছে। ব্রডব্যান্ড ইন্টারনেট-এর পরিধি সম্প্রসারণ ও মানোন্নয়ন প্রক্রিয়াধীন। কলা অনুষদের বিভাগগুলোতে  কোর্স পদ্ধতির পরিবর্তে সেমিস্টার পদ্ধতি চালু করা হয়েছে। পরীক্ষার ফলাফলে প্রবর্তন করা হয়েছে লেটার গ্রেড ও সিজিপিএ পদ্ধতি।

ঐতিহাসিক বটতলা ও অপরাজেয় বাংলা এ অনুষদ ক্যাম্পাসেই অবস্থিত, যা দেখভালের দায়িত্বও প্রধানত এ অনুষদের। এছাড়া এ ক্যাম্পাসের সন্নিকটে রয়েছে ঐতিহাসিক মধুর ক্যান্টিন, ডাকসু ভবন ও কেন্দ্রীয় গ্রন্থাগার। শিখ ধর্মাবলম্বীদের পবিত্র উপসনালয় গুরুদুয়ারা নানকশাহী এ ক্যাম্পাস সংলগ্ন।

২০১৫-২০১৬ অর্থ বছরের শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের আওতায় অনুন্নয়ন বাজেট থেকে ৯৯০.০০ (নয়শত নব্বই লক্ষ) টাকার ব্যয় সম্বলিত কর্মসূচি ঐতিহাসিক কলাভবন ও লেকচার থিয়েটারের পূর্ণাঙ্গ মেরামত ও সংস্কার কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়েছে।

২০১৮-২০১৯ শিক্ষাবর্ষে সম্পন্ন বিভিন্ন একাডেমিক কার্যক্রম :

শিক্ষার মানোন্নয়ন শীর্ষক কর্মশালা : কলা অনুষদের উদ্যোগে ৪ দিনব্যাপী (২২-২৫ নভেম্বর ২০১৮) কক্সবাজার হোটেল সি প্যালেসে এক কর্মশালা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

কলা অনুষদ বক্তৃতামালা : কলা অনুষদের উদ্যোগে কলা অনুষদ বক্তৃতামালা-৩ (১২ আগস্ট ২০১৮), বক্তৃতামালা-৪ (০৯ অক্টোবর ২০১৮),  বক্তৃতামালা-৫ (১১ নভেম্বর ২০১৮), বক্তৃতামালা-৬ (০৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০১৯), বক্তৃতামালা-৭ (০৬ মার্চ ২০১৯) ও বক্তৃতামালা-৮ (২৩ এপ্রিল ২০১৯) অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

রবীন্দ্র নজরুল উৎসব : কলা অনুষদের উদ্যোগে রবীন্দ্র-নজরুল উৎসব ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ছাত্র-শিক্ষক কেন্দ্রে ২৭ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০১৮ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

জাতীয় শোকদিবস উপলক্ষে কুইজ প্রতিযোগিতা ও নাটক: কলা অনুষদের উদ্যোগে জাতির জনক বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের ৪৩তম শাহাদাত বার্ষিকী উপলক্ষ্যে ৩০ আগস্ট ২০১৮ ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ছাত্র-শিক্ষক কেন্দ্রের অডিটোরিয়ামে বঙ্গবন্ধু জীবনালেখ্যভিত্তিক লোকনাট্য দলের পরিবেশনায় ‘মুজিব মানে মুক্তি’ নাটক পরিবেশনা এবং বঙ্গবন্ধুর ‘অসমাপ্ত আত্মজীবনী’ গ্রন্থভিত্তিক উন্মুক্ত কুইজ প্রতিযোগিতা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

বিতর্ক কর্মশালা : কলা অনুষদের উদ্যোগে অনুষদভুক্ত বিভাগগুলোর শিক্ষার্থীদের অংশগ্রহণে ১০ অক্টোবর ২০১৮ এক বিতর্ক কর্মশালা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

প্রথম আন্তঃবিভাগ বিতর্ক প্রতিযোগিতা : কলা অনুষদের উদ্যোগে অনুষদভুক্ত বিভাগগুলোর শিক্ষার্থীদের অংশগ্রহণে ২ দিনব্যাপী (১৯-২০ জানুয়ারি ২০১৯) বিতর্ক প্রতিযোগিতা অনুষ্ঠিত হয় এবং ময়মনসিংহ গীতিকা অবলম্বনে নৃত্যকলা বিভাগের পরিবেশনায় নৃত্যনাট্য মহুয়ার পালা নাটমণ্ডলে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

৫ম জাতীয় সাংস্কৃতিক প্রতিযোগিতা ফোকলোর অলিম্পিয়াড - ২০১৯ :  কলা অনুষদের উদ্যোগে নটরডেম কলেজে ২ দিনব্যাপী (১৫-১৬ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০১৯) সাংস্কৃতিক প্রতিযোগিতা-২০১৯ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

কলা অনুষদ বৃত্তি ২০১৯ : কলা অনুষদের উদ্যোগে অনুষদভুক্ত বিভাগগুলোর মধ্যে থেকে ৪২ জন শিক্ষার্থীদের ২৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০১৯ আর. সি. মজুমদার অডিটোরিয়ামে কলা অনুষদ বৃত্তি ২০১৯ প্রদান করা হয়।

Faculty of Arts (1921)

The Faculty of Arts, the largest in the  University, consists of seventeen Departments : Department of Bangla, Department of English, Department of History, Department of Islamic History and Culture, Department of Philosophy, Department of Information Science and Library Management, Department of Arabic, Department of Islamic Studies, Department of Sanskrit, Department of Persian Language and Literature, Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Department of Urdu, Department of Linguistics, Department of Theatre and Performance Studies, Department of Music, Department of World Religions and Culture and Department of Dance . The academic activities of these Departments are conducted by the Faculty of Arts. The Faculty of Arts has 6640 students. 2378 students are enrolled every academic year. We

The admission of students into 1st year Honours classes in the Departments of the Arts Faculty is conducted through ÔKha Unit’. Besides, this Faculty conducts the admission  of students into the 1st year Honours classes, through ‘Gha’ unit, in the Department of Economics, Department of Political Science, Department of Public Administration, Department of Sociology, Department of  Mass Communication and Journalism, Department of International Relations, Department of Anthropology, Department of Peace and Conflict Studies, Department of Development Studies,  Department of Women and Gender Studies, Department of Population Sciences, Department of Television, Film and Photography,  Department of Criminology, Department of Communication Disorders and Department of Japan Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Law of the Faculty of Law, Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Department of Geography and Environment of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences and five Institutes- the Institute of Social Welfare and Research, Institute of Education and Research, Institute of Health Economics, Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies and Institute of Modern Languages.

Distribution of classrooms for different departments situated at the Arts Building and allocation of space for various academic and administrative activities including Mid-term and Semester Final Examinations are scheduled by the Faculty of Arts. The maintenance of the Arts Faculty Building and the Lecture Theatre Building is carried out by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts.

Two research journals, one in Bengali and the other in English, are published every year from the Faculty. At the initiative of the Faculty, broadband connection has been installed at the Arts Faculty Building and the Lecture Theatre. In addition, broadband connection has been extended to all the offices of the Faculty and seminar rooms and teachers’ rooms as per their need. Internet connection has been set up at the Department of Psychology and the office of the Proctor of the university located at the Arts Building.

The historical Battola and the Aparajeyo Bangla are located at Arts Faculty campus. The responsibility of looking after these historic places mainly lies with this Faculty. Also situated around here are the Madhur Canteen, the DUCSU Building and the Dhaka University Central Library. Guruduwara Nanakshahi, the holy temple of the Shikh community, is adjacent to the Faculty.

The University Authority is now doing a comprehensive renovation work for the historical Arts Building and the Lecture Theatre with Tk. 990 lac released from the non-ADP budget of the Ministry of Education in 2015-2016 fiscal year, which was duly approved by the Ministry of Finance. It is to be noted that the construction work is about to be completed soon.

বিজ্ঞান অনুষদ (১৯২১)

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠালগ্নে ১৯২১ সনে বিজ্ঞান অনুষদ পদার্থ, গণিত এবং রসায়ন বিভাগ নিয়ে একাডেমিক কার্যক্রম শুরু করে। অনুষদের বর্তমান বিভাগগুলো: (১) পদার্থ বিজ্ঞান, (২) গণিত, (৩) রসায়ন, (৪) পরিসংখ্যান, (৫) তাত্ত্বিক পদার্থ বিজ্ঞান, (৬) বায়োমেডিকেল ফিজিক্স এন্ড টেকনোলজি, (৭) ফলিত গণিত এবং (৮) থিওরেটিক্যাল এন্ড কম্পিউটেশনাল কেমিস্ট্রি বিভাগ। এ অনুষদে চার বছর মেয়াদি বি. এস. (সম্মান), এক বছর মেয়াদি মাস্টার্স, দুই বছর মেয়াদি এম. ফিল. এবং তিন বছর মেয়াদি পিএইচ.ডি. কোর্সে শিক্ষাকার্যক্রম বিদ্যমান রয়েছে। ২০০৫-২০০৬ শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকে বিজ্ঞান অনুষদে লেটার গ্রেডিং সিস্টেম প্রবর্তন করা হয়েছে। বি. এস. (সম্মান) শ্রেণিতে কৃতিত্বপূর্ণ ফলাফলের জন্য অনুষদের বিভাগসমূহের ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের ডিন সম্মাননা প্রদান করা হয়। অনুষদে তিনটি রিসার্চ সেন্টার রয়েছে: (১) বোস সেন্টার ফর এ্যাডভান্সড স্টাডি এন্ড রিসার্চ ইন ন্যাচারাল সায়েন্স, (২) সেমিকন্ডাক্টর টেকনোলজি রিসার্চ সেন্টার, (৩) অর্গানিক পলিউটেন্টস রিসার্চ সেন্টার। বিজ্ঞান অনুষদের জার্নালটির ২টি সংখ্যা (জুলাই ও জানুয়ারি) প্রকাশিত হয়। জার্নালের নাম- “ঢাকা ইউনির্ভাসিটি জার্নাল অব সায়েন্স”।

Faculty of Science (1921)

Dhaka University opened its doors to the students on the 1st of July 1921 with only three faculties, namely the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Law. The Faculty of Science started its journey with three Departments - Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. The Faculty has undergone significant changes over the years. New Departments have been established with the increased demand of time and increase in the number of students. Subsequently, new facilities have been created to meet the needs of those new Departments. Now, the Faculty consists of eight Departments, which are (1) Physics, (2) Mathematics, (3) Chemistry, (4) Statistics, (5) Theoretical Physics, (6) Biomedical Physics & Technology, (7) Applied Mathematics and (8) Theoretical and Computational Chemistry. The Faculty of Science offers a four-year BS Honours course and a one-year MS course (both in thesis and non-thesis group). This Faculty is also offering a two-year M. Phil degree and a three-year Ph. D degree. The Faculty has introduced a uniform Letter Grading System from 2005-2006 academic session. The students of the Faculty are given the Dean’s Award for outstanding results in the BS Honours examination. There is three Research Centres in the Faculty: (1) Bose Centre for Advanced Study and Research in Natural Sciences (2) Semiconductor Technology Research Centre and (3) Organic Pollutants Research Centre.

Journal of Science is the research journal of the Faculty and is published half-yearly in January and July as two issues per annual volume.  

আইন অনুষদ (১৯২১)

১৯২১ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠালগ্ন হতে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠিত তিনটি অনুষদের মধ্যে আইন অনুষদ একটি। ১৯৭৩ সাল পর্যন্ত আইন অনুষদের অধীনে শুধুমাত্র দু’বছর মেয়াদি স্নাতক কোর্স এলএল. বি. (সান্ধ্যকালীন) চালু ছিল। ১৯৭৩-৭৪ শিক্ষাবর্ষ হতে এলএল. বি. (সান্ধ্যকালীন) কোর্সের পরিবর্তে তিন বছর মেয়াদি এলএল. বি. (অনার্স) কোর্স এবং ১৯৭৭-৭৮ শিক্ষাবর্ষ হতে এলএল.বি. (অনার্স) কোর্সের মেয়াদ চার বছরে বর্ধিত করা হয়। ১৯৭৬-৭৭ শিক্ষাবর্ষ হতে এক বছর মেয়াদি এলএল. এম. কোর্স চালু আছে। এছাড়াও আইন অনুষদের অধীনে এম. ফিল ও পিএইচ. ডি ডিগ্রি প্রদান করা হয়।

২০০৪-২০০৫ শিক্ষাবর্ষ হতে এলএল. বি. (সম্মান) শ্রেণিতে নতুন প্রবর্তিত সিলেবাস অনুযায়ী পরীক্ষা ১৭০০ নম্বরের পরিবর্তে ২৩০০ নম্বরে উন্নীত করা হয়। ২০১০-২০১১ শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকে গ্রেডিং সিস্টেম চালু হয় এবং শিক্ষার্থীদের এলএল. বি. (সম্মান) ডিগ্রির জন্য ২৪টি বিষয়ের বিপরীতে ২২০০ নম্বর, ১৩২ ক্রেডিট এবং মৌখিক ১০০ নম্বর ৬ ক্রেডিট সমতুল্য, সর্বমোট ২৩০০ নম্বর ১৩৮ ক্রেডিটের পরীক্ষা দিতে হয়। ২০০৫-২০০৬ শিক্ষাবর্ষ হতে মাস্টার অব লজ (জেনারেল এন্ড স্পেশালাইজড) কোর্স প্রবর্তন করা হয়।

আইন অনুষদে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ল জার্নাল (ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় স্টাডিজ পার্ট-এফ) নিয়মিত প্রকাশিত হচ্ছে। অনুষদের অধীনে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় মুট কোর্ট সোসাইটি এবং ক্লিনিক্যাল লিগ্যাল এডুকেশন ক্লিনিক আছে।

Faculty of Law

The Faculty of Law at the University of Dhaka began its journey from the foundation of the University in 1921. Since then, the Faculty of Law has been contributing enormously to the legal education in the country. Until 1973, it offered a two-year LL.B. evening programme. During the 1973-1974 session, it introduced a three-year LL.B. Honours course in lieu of the evening programme. The duration of this course was subsequently extended to four years in the 1977-1978 academic session. Since 1976-1977 session, a one-year LL.M. course has been in place. The Faculty offers two research degrees in Law, namely M. Phil and Ph D.

Under the revised syllabus newly introduced in the 2004-2005 session for the students of LL.B. (Honours), the marks for the subjects offered in the undergraduate programme was increased from 1700 to 2300. In the grading system introduced in session 2010-2011. 2200 marks equivalent to 132 credits were distributed against 24 subjects offered at the undergraduate level and 100 marks equivalent to 6 credits were distributed against four viva-voce exams taken at the end of each year. In total, 2300 marks are equivalent to 138 credits. In 2005-2006 session, the Master of Laws (General & Specialized) course was introduced.

বিজনেস স্টাডিজ অনুষদ (১৯৭০)

১৯২১ সনে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠার পর কলা অনুষদের আওতায় প্রাক্তন বাণিজ্য বিভাগ প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। ১৯৭০ সনে ব্যবস্থাপনা ও হিসাব বিজ্ঞান বিভাগ নিয়ে বাণিজ্য অনুষদ প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। ১৯৭৪ সনে মার্কেটিং এবং ফিন্যান্স ও ব্যাংকিং বিভাগ দু-টি প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। অনুষদে ১৯৭৭-১৯৭৮ শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকে সেমিস্টার পদ্ধতি চালু রয়েছে। ১৯৯৫ সনে বাণিজ্য অনুষদের নাম পরিবর্তন করে বিজনেস স্টাডিজ অনুষদ নামকরণ করা হয়। ১৯৯৪-১৯৯৫ শিক্ষাবর্ষে অনুষদের ডিগ্রির নাম বি. কম (অনার্স) এবং এম. কম-এর পরিবর্তে যথাক্রমে বি. বি. এ (অনার্স) এবং এম. বি. এ করা হয়। একই শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকে বি. কম (অনার্স)-এর পরিবর্তে ৪ বছর মেয়াদি বি. বি. এ প্রোগ্রাম করা হয়েছে। ২০০৪ সনে ব্যাংকিং এবং ম্যানেজমেন্ট ইনফরমেশন সিস্টেম্‌স্ নামে দু’টি নতুন বিভাগ সংযোজন করা হয়। ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ২০০৭-২০০৮ শিক্ষবর্ষ থেকে ট্যুরিজম ও হোটেল ম্যানেজমেন্ট বিভাগ এবং ইন্টারন্যাশনাল বিজনেস বিভাগ নামে দু’টি বিভাগ খোলা হয়। পরে ট্যুরিজম ও হোটেল ম্যানেজমেন্ট-এর নাম পাল্টে ট্যুরিজম ও হসপিটালিটি ম্যানেজমেন্ট এবং ব্যাংকিং-এর নাম পাল্টে ব্যাংকিং ও ইনস্যুরেন্স বিভাগ করা হয়। ২০১৬ সালে অরগানাইজেশন স্ট্র্যাটেজি ও লিডারশীপ নামে একটি নতুন বিভাগ খোলা হয়। বর্তমানে অনুষদে ০৯টি বিভাগ রয়েছে।

Faculty of Business Studies

The Faculty of Business Studies has a long history. The Department of Commerce was established under the Faculty of Arts of the University of Dhaka in the year 1921. This Department emerged as an independent Faculty in 1970 with only two Departments: the Department of Management Studies and the Department of Accounting Information System. The Department of Marketing and the Department of Finance were created in 1974. The semester system was introduced in this Faculty from the session 1977-1978. The Faculty of Commerce was renamed as the Faculty of Business Studies in 1995. During 1994-95, the names of the B.Com. (Hons.) and M.Com. degrees were changed to BBA and MBA degrees respectively. From the same academic session, the 4-year BBA programme was introduced in place of 3-year B.Com. (Hons) programme. The one-year M.Com. programme was also renamed as MBA programme. During the year 2004, two more Departments were created under this Faculty namely the Department of Banking and the Department of Management Information Systems (MIS). During the academic session 2007-2008, two other Departments were again added to this Faculty namely the Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management and the Department of International Business.

সামাজিক বিজ্ঞান অনুষদ ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে বৈচিত্র্যপূর্ণ একাডেমিক শাখা হিসেবে বিবেচিত। এই অনুষদটি ২রা অক্টোবর, ১৯৭০ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠার পর থেকেই মানুষের সংস্কৃতি, সমাজ, রাজনীতি ইত্যাদি বৈচিত্র্যপূর্ণ একাডেমিক জ্ঞান শাখাকে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করেছে যেগুলো তাত্ত্বিকভাবে এবং সরেজমিনে প্রাপ্ত তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে গবেষণা সম্পাদন করে। শিক্ষার্থীদের একাডেমিক এবং পেশাগত উন্নয়নের জন্য তাদেরকে আন্তঃশাস্ত্রীয় জ্ঞান, দক্ষতা, মূল্যবোধ প্রদানের উদ্দেশ্যে এই অনুষদে বর্তমানে ১৬টি একাডেমিক বিভাগ রয়েছে। এগুলো হল - অর্থনীতি বিভাগ, রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ, আন্তর্জাতিক সম্পর্ক বিভাগ, সমাজবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ, গণযোগাযোগ ও সাংবাদিকতা বিভাগ, লোকপ্রশাসন বিভাগ, নৃ-বিজ্ঞান বিভাগ, পপুলেশন সায়েন্সেস বিভাগ, শান্তি ও সংঘর্ষ অধ্যয়ন বিভাগ, উইমেন এন্ড জেন্ডার স্টাডিজ বিভাগ, ডেভেলপমেন্ট স্টাডিজ বিভাগ, টেলিভিশন ফিল্ম এন্ড ফটোগ্রাফি বিভাগ, ক্রিমিনোলজি বিভাগ, কমিউনিকেশন ডিজঅর্ডারস বিভাগ, প্রিন্টিং এন্ড পাবলিকেশন স্টাডিজ বিভাগ এবং জাপানিজ স্টাডিজ বিভাগ। এই বিভাগসমূহ অনার্স ও মাস্টার্স পর্যায়ে বিভিন্ন কোর্স এবং নানামাত্রিক গবেষণার সুযোগ প্রদান করে যা মূলত এই অনুষদে একটি সহযোগিতামূলক একাডেমিক পরিবেশ তৈরি করে যেটি প্রকারান্তরে মোট শিক্ষার্থী এবং শিক্ষকদেরকে পূর্ণ গবেষণার লক্ষ্য অর্জনে সহায়তা করে।

সামাজিক বিজ্ঞান অনুষদের একজন ডিন দুই (০২) বছরের জন্য নির্বাচিত হন এবং অনুষদের যাবতীয় কর্ম যথা - ভর্তি প্রক্রিয়া, অর্থব্যবস্থা এবং অনুষদভুক্ত কর্মচারীদেরকে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের নীতিমালা অনুযায়ী পরিচালিত করেন।

এছাড়াও সামাজিক বিজ্ঞান অনুষদ Social Science Review এবং সামাজিক বিজ্ঞান পত্রিকা নামে দুটি একাডেমিক জার্নাল প্রকাশ করে।

Faculty of Social Sciences

The Faculty of Social Sciences is the most diverse academic unit of the University of Dhaka. This Faculty was founded on 2 October 1970 and since then accommodated a wide range of academic disciplines that study human culture, society and politics, and are theoretically based and empirically well evidenced.

Imparting interdisciplinary knowledge, skills, and values to students in order to contribute to their academic and professional development it is organized into 16 academic Departments. The Departments are: Economics, Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Mass Communication and Journalism, Public Administration, Anthropology, Population Sciences, Peace and Conflict Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Development Studies, Television, Film and Photography, Criminology, Communication Disorders, Printing and Publication Studies, and Japanese Studies.

These departments offer an array of courses both in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes along with plethora of research opportunities. The Departments provide supportive educational setting to ensure that students as well as the Faculty members utilize their full potential.

The Faculty of Social Sciences is headed by the Dean who is elected for a term of two years. The Dean runs the general activities, admission, finances, and personnel administration in line with the university’s policies.

জীববিজ্ঞান অনুষদ (১৯৭৪)

জীববিজ্ঞান অনুষদ ১৯৭৪ সনে ৫টি বিভাগ নিয়ে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। এই অনুষদে মৃত্তিকা, পানি ও পরিবেশ, উদ্ভিদবিজ্ঞান, প্রাণিবিদ্যা, প্রাণরসায়ন ও অণুপ্রাণ বিজ্ঞান, মনোবিজ্ঞান, অণুজীব বিজ্ঞান, মৎস্যবিজ্ঞান, চিকিৎসা মনোবিজ্ঞান, জিন প্রকৌশল ও জীবপ্রযুক্তি, এডুকেশনাল এন্ড কাউন্সেলিং সাইকোলজি এবং পাবলিক হেলথ নামে ১১টি বিভাগ রয়েছে। গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ (আজিমপুর), বাংলাদেশ গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ (গ্রীন রোড), ন্যাশনাল কলেজ অব হোম ইকনমিক্স (লালমাটিয়া), ময়মনসিংহ গার্হস্থ্য অর্থনীতি কলেজ (ময়মনসিংহ) এবং আকিজ কলেজ অব হোম ইকনমিক্স (ধানমন্ডি) এই পাঁচটি কলেজ অনুষদের অঙ্গীভূত কলেজ।

 

The Faculty of Biological Sciences (1974)

The Faculty of Biological Sciences was established in 1974 with five Departments. At present the Faculty has 11 Departments, namely Soil, Water and Environment, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Psychology, Microbiology, Fisheries, Clinical Psychology, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Educational and Counseling Psychology and the Public Health.

Besides the above 11 departments there are five affiliated colleges, namely the College of Home Economics (Azimpur), Bangladesh College of Home Economics (Green Road), National College of Home Economics (Lalmatia), Mymensingh College of Home Economics and Akij College of Home Economics.

ফার্মেসী অনুষদ (১৯৯৫)

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ১৯৬৪ সালে ফার্মেসী বিভাগ প্রতিষ্ঠার মাধ্যমে বাংলাদেশে ফার্মেসী শিক্ষা কার্যক্রম শুরু হয়। ১৯৬৪-১৯৬৫ শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে তিন বছর মেয়াদি বি. ফার্ম. (সম্মান) এবং ১৯৬৮-১৯৬৯ শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকে এম. ফার্ম. কোর্স চালু করা হয়।

১৯৯৫ সালে ফার্মেসী অনুষদ প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয় এবং ১৯৯৬ সালে ৩ বছর মেয়াদি বি. ফার্ম. (সম্মান) কোর্সকে ৪ বছর মেয়াদি বি. ফার্ম. (সম্মান) কোর্সে উন্নীত করা হয়। ২০০৩ সালে ফার্মেসী বিভাগকে অবলুপ্ত করে বি. ফার্ম. (সম্মান) কোর্স ডিনের অধীনে ন্যস্ত করা হয় এবং মাস্টার্স পর্যায়ে ফার্মাসিউটিক্যাল কেমিস্ট্রি বিভাগ, ক্লিনিক্যাল ফার্মেসী এন্ড ফার্মাকোলজী বিভাগ ও ফার্মাসিউটিক্যাল টেকনোলজী বিভাগের কার্যক্রম শুরু হয়। অনুষদের উল্লেখিত বিভাগ সমূহে এম. ফার্ম. ছাড়াও এম. ফিল. এবং পিএইচ. ডি. ডিগ্রি প্রদান করা হয়। পরবর্তীতে ২০১০-২০১১ শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকে ফার্মেসী অনুষদে পাঁচ বছর মেয়াদি পেশাগত বি. ফার্ম. কোর্স চালু করা হয়। সিন্ডিকেটের ২৫.৫.২০১৪ তারিখের সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী ফার্মেসী বিভাগের কার্যক্রম পুনরায় শুরু করা হয়।

প্রতি বছর এ অনুষদে নিয়মিতভাবে সেমিনার/সিম্পোজিয়ামের আয়োজন করা হয়। ২০০২ সাল হতে ফার্মেসী অনুষদ নিয়মিতভাবে দ্বি-বার্ষিক ভিত্তিতে The Dhaka University Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences  নামে একটি জার্নাল প্রকাশ করে আসছে। ফার্মেসী অনুষদের মেধাবী ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের জন্য বিভিন্ন পুরস্কার ও বৃত্তি (ডিনস্ অ্যাওয়ার্ড, বদরুন্নেছা গফুর মেমোরিয়াল ট্রাস্ট ফান্ড) এবং স্বর্ণপদক (কথাশিল্পী সরদার জয়েন উদ্দীন গোল্ড মেডেল) প্রদান করা হয়।

Faculty of Pharmacy

The 3-years Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.) course was introduced in 1964 and a 1-year Master of Pharmacy course started in 1968. The Faculty of Pharmacy started functioning since 1995 and the 4-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.) course was started in 1996. According to a decision of the syndicate in 2003, the Department of Pharmacy under the Faculty of Pharmacy was abolished and the 4-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.) course was taken under the control of the Dean of the Faculty. There are three departments namely Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacology and Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, which offer postgraduate courses. From 2010-2011 session the Faculty of Pharmacy started a five-year Bachelor of Pharmacy professional programme. According to a syndicate decision (25.5.2014) Department of Pharmacy again started its activity.

The Faculty has been regularly publishing the peer-reviewed biannual scientific journal entitled, The Dhaka University Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences from 2002. The Faculty of Pharmacy has introduced awards (e, g, Dean's award), scholarships (e. g. Badrunnessa Gafur Memorial Trust scholarship) and Gold medals (e, g, Kothashilpee Sardar Joinuddin Memorial Gold Medal) for the meritorious students of the Faculty.

আর্থ এন্ড এনভায়রনমেন্টাল সায়েন্সেস অনুষদ (২০০৮)

একাডেমিক পরিষদের সুপারিশক্রমে ও সিন্ডিকেট প্রস্তাবের (১৭-০৬-২০০৮) পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে সিনেটের ২৬/০৬/২০০৮ তারিখ কর্তৃক অনুসমর্থিত হয়ে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় আদেশ ১৯৭৩-এর ১ম সংবিধি অনুযায়ী ৩টি নতুন অনুষদের মধ্যে আর্থ এন্ড এনভায়রনমেন্টাল সায়েন্সেস অনুষদটির সূচনা হয়। অনুষদের পূর্ণ কার্যক্রম এখন সুষ্ঠুভাবে পরিচালিত হচ্ছে।

অনুষদের অধীনে বর্তমানে বিভাগসমূহ হলো : ভূগোল ও পরিবেশ বিভাগ, ভূতত্ত্ব বিভাগ, সমুদ্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ, দুর্যোগ বিজ্ঞান ও ব্যবস্থাপনা বিভাগ এবং আবহাওয়া বিজ্ঞান বিভাগ।

অনুষদের অফিসের জন্য কার্জনহলস্থ সায়েন্স ক্যাফেটেরিয়ার দোতলার পূর্বদিক বরাদ্দ দেয়া হয় এবং বর্তমানে ওই স্থানটিকে পূর্ণাঙ্গ অফিসে পরিণত করা হয়েছে।

উক্ত অনুষদের অধীনে ৬৬ জন শিক্ষক, ৯০০ জন ছাত্র/ছাত্রী এবং ৪৫ জন কর্মকর্তা-কর্মচারী রয়েছে। এই অনুষদ সমতা নিরূপণ কমিটির কাজ করে থাকে। পিএইচ. ডি. সাব-কমিটি, জার্নাল কমিটি এবং অনুষদের সভাগুলোতে ডিন সভাপতিত্ব করেন। ভূগোল ও পরিবেশ বিভাগ, ভূতত্ত্ব বিভাগ, সমুদ্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ দুর্যোগ বিজ্ঞান ও ব্যবস্থাপনা বিভাগ এবং আবহাওয়া বিজ্ঞান বিভাগের অধ্যাপকবৃন্দ উক্ত অনুষদ সভায় সদস্য হিসাবে উপস্থিত থাকেন।

Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences (2008)

The Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences was founded on 17 June 2008 to consolidate the University of Dhaka’s research and teaching in Earth and Environmental Sciences. It started functioning from 20 August 2008. The Faculty office is located within the Curzon Hall Campus and occupies the eastern wing of the 1st floor of the Science Cafeteria building. It is a fully functioning office and started operating initially with the help of the UGC which provided a desktop computer and a multimedia projector.

There are five Departments in this Faculty: Department of Geography and Environment, Department of Geology, Department of Oceanography, Department of Disaster Science and Management and Department of Meteorology. The Department of Geography and Environment is located in the Science Annex Campus and the Department of Geology is located in the Curzon Hall Campus. The Faculty at present consists of 66 teachers, over 900 students, and 45 office staff.

The Dean is the ex-officio Chair of the meetings of the chairmen/chairpersons of the Departments where academic matters and other important issues related to students and Faculty members are discussed. The Dean convenes the meeting of the Ph. D sub-committee, Equivalence Committee, and the Faculty Journal Committee and chairs the Faculty meetings. All professors of the two Departments take part in the Faculty meetings.

ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং এন্ড টেকনোলজি অনুষদ (২০০৮)

১৯৭৩ সালের ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় আদেশ প্রথম অধ্যাদেশ বলে একাডেমিক কাউন্সিল এবং সিন্ডিকেটের সুপারিশের প্রেক্ষিতে সিনেটের অনুমোদনক্রমে ফলিত পদার্থ বিজ্ঞান, ইলেকট্রনিক্স এন্ড কমিউনিকেশন ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগ, ফলিত রসায়ন ও কেমিকৌশল বিভাগ এবং কম্পিউটার বিজ্ঞান ও প্রকৌশল বিভাগ নিয়ে ২০০৮ সালের জুন মাসে বাংলাদেশের জাতীয় চাহিদার কথা বিবেচনায় রেখে দক্ষ প্রকৌশলী এবং প্রযুক্তিবিদ তৈরির উদ্দেশ্যে ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং এন্ড টেকনোলজি অনুষদ প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। বাংলাদেশের পাবনার রুপপুরে প্রস্তাবিত পারমাণবিক বিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্রের জন্য এবং পরমাণু শক্তির সুষ্ঠু ব্যবহারের উদ্দেশ্যে প্রয়োজনীয় পরমাণু বিজ্ঞানী তৈরির লক্ষ্য নিয়ে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সিন্ডিকেটের ২৯/০৮/২০১০ তারিখের সভার সিদ্ধান্ত মোতাবেক অত্র অনুষদে নিউক্লিয়ার ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগ প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয় এবং ২০১২-২০১৩ শিক্ষাবর্ষ হতে মাস্টার্স প্রোগ্রামের মাধ্যমে একাডেমিক কার্যক্রম শুরু হয়। বর্তমানে অনার্স এবং মাস্টার্স প্রোগ্রাম চালু রয়েছে। এছাড়া ৩০/০৯/২০১৪ তারিখের সিন্ডিকেট সভায় রোবটিক্স এন্ড মেকাট্রনিক্স ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগ খোলার অনুমোদন করা হয় এবং ২০১৫-২০১৬ শিক্ষাবর্ষে অনার্স প্রোগ্রামে ভর্তির মাধ্যমে উক্ত বিভাগের একাডেমিক কার্যক্রম শুরু করা হয়। ৩০/০৯/২০১৪ তারিখের সিন্ডিকেট সভায় ফলিত পদার্থ বিজ্ঞান, ইলেকট্রনিক্স এন্ড কমিউনিকেশন ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগ কে পরিবর্তন করে ইলেকট্রিক্যাল ও ইলেকট্রনিক ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং বিভাগে রূপান্তর করা হয়। ২০১৯ সালে ২০১৫-২০১৬ শিক্ষাবর্ষের ১৩জন মেধাবী ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদেরকে ডিন’স অ্যাওয়ার্ড প্রদান করা । অনুষদভুক্ত ৩টি ইনস্টিটউট এবং ৭ টি কলেজ রয়েছে।

Faculty of Engineering and Technology (2008)

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology started its journey on 26 June 2008 in accordance with the first ordinance of Dhaka University Order, 1973 and the recommendation of the academic council and the syndicate followed by approval of the senate. The Faculty consists of three Departments: Applied Physics Electronics & Communication Engineering, Applied Chemistry & Chemical Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering. Considering the national demand of Bangladesh this Faculty was established to produce skilled manpower in the engineering and technology field. The Department of Nuclear Engineering was established under this Faculty through the approval of the syndicate meeting dated 29 August 2010. This Department started ‍a 4-year Honours (8 semesters) programme from 2013-2014 session and M.Sc programme from 2012-2013. Besides, the Department of Robotics & Mechatronics Engineering was established under this Faculty through the approval of the syndicate meeting dated 30 September 2014. The Department has been offering a 4-year Honours programme since 2015-2016 session. The Department of Applied Physics Electronics & Communication Engineering was changed to the Department of EEE in the syndicate meeting on 30 September 2014. Under this Faculty there are three institutes and seven affiliated colleges.

চারুকলা অনুষদ (১৯৪৮-২০১৬)

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের চারুকলা অনুষদ দেশের শিল্পকলা শিক্ষার প্রথম বিদ্যাপীঠ এবং শিল্পকলা তথা সংস্কৃতিচর্চার প্রধান প্রাণকেন্দ্র এই শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানটি প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয় ১৯৪৮ সনে। শিল্পাচার্য জয়নুল আবেদিনের নেতৃত্বে দেশের বরেণ্য শিল্পীদের সক্রিয় সহযোগিতায় গভর্নমেন্ট আর্ট ইনস্টিটিউট’ নামে এই শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানটির কার্যক্রমের সূচনা হয় ঢাকার জনসন রোডের ঢাকা ন্যাশনাল মেডিকেল ইনস্টিটিউট হাসপাতালের একটি অংশে। প্রতিষ্ঠানটি ১৯৫২ সনে সেগুনবাগিচার একটি বাড়িতে স্থানান্তরিত হয় এবং পরে ১৯৫৬ সনে শাহবাগে এখনকার নিজস্ব ভবনে আসে। প্রথমে সুকুমার কলা (বর্তমানে অঙ্কন ও চিত্রায়ণ) এবং বাণিজ্যিক শিল্পকলা (বর্তমানে গ্রাফিক ডিজাইন) Ñ এই দু’টি বিভাগ নিয়ে শুরু হয়েছিল চারুকলা শিক্ষার কার্যক্রম। অতঃপর এই শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে প্রাচ্যকলা (১৯৫৫), মৃৎশিল্প (১৯৬২), ভাস্কর্য (১৯৬৩) এবং কারুশিল্প (১৯৬৮) বিভাগ চালু হয় এবং ১৯৬৩ সন থেকে পাঠ্যক্রমে শিল্পকলার ইতিহাস বিষয়টি যুক্ত হয়।

১৯৮৩ সনের ১ সেপ্টেম্বর বাংলাদেশ চারু ও কারুকলা মহাবিদ্যালয় একটি ইনস্টিটিউট হিসাবে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয় এবং ২০০৮ সালের ২ আগস্ট থেকে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একটি অনুষদ হিসাবে এই প্রতিষ্ঠানের কার্যক্রম শুরু হয়। ১৯৯২-৯৩ শিক্ষাবর্ষ থেকে এখানে স্নাতক (পাস) কোর্সের স্থলে অনার্স কোর্স শুরু হয়। বর্তমানে এ অনুষদে ৮টি বিভাগ রয়েছে। এসব বিভাগে মোট ৬৩ জন শিক্ষক স্থায়ীভাবে কর্মরত আছেন।

Faculty of Fine Arts

Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin established the Government Institute of Art in 1948 which was the first educational art institute in this country and eventually became the main centre of art and cultural practice. In the beginning, there were six teachers (Anwarul Huq, Quamrul Hasan, Safiuddin Ahmed, Habibur Rahman and Syed Ali Ahsan), with Zainul Abedin as the Principal, and eighteen students. The activities of this institute started with two Departments – Fine Art (at present Drawing and Painting) and Commercial Art (at present Graphic Design). The institute started in DNMI Hospital building at Johnson Road in Dhaka. In 1952 the Institute was moved to a building at Segun Bagicha, and then in 1956, it was moved to its own premises at Shahbagh.

In 1983 this college merged as an institute with Dhaka University. Honours courses were introduced from the 1992-93 session. The institute was turned into the Faculty of Fine Art of Dhaka University in 2008. At present, there are eight Departments in this Faculty. There are 63 permanent teachers.
