রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ (১৯৩৮)
১৯২১ সালে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠার কাল থেকেই রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিষয়টি অর্থনীতি ও রাজনীতি বিভাগ নামে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছিল। ১৯৩৮ সালে স্বতন্ত্র বিভাগ হিসেব রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান যাত্রা শুরু করে। বর্তমানে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সামাজিক বিজ্ঞান অনুষদের মধ্যে রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ অন্যতম বৃহত্তম বিভাগে পরিণত হয়েছে। প্রতি সেশনে ২২০ জন শিক্ষার্থী সম্মান শ্রেণিতে ভর্তি হয়। বিভাগে অনার্স, মাস্টার্স, এম. ফিল. এবং পিএইচ. ডি. প্রোগ্রাম চালু রয়েছে। প্রতি বছরে ভাল মানের শিক্ষার্থীগণ রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগে এম. ফিল ও পিএইচ. ডি প্রোগ্রামে আবেদন করছেন। এছাড়াও, রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের অধীনে মাস্টার ইন গভর্ন্যান্স স্টাডিজ (এমজিএস) নামে একটি মাস্টার ডিগ্রি প্রোগ্রাম ২০১৩-২০১৪ সেশন থেকে শুরু হয়েছে।
বর্তমানে এই বিভাগ একাডেমিক প্রোগ্রামের আওতায় পাঠ্যসূচি অনুযায়ী পাঠদান এবং আলোচনা ও সেমিনারের আয়োজন করছে। রাষ্ট্রবিজ্ঞান বিষয়ে সমসাময়িক জ্ঞান অর্জন এবং শিক্ষার্থীদের বিশ্লেষণ দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধির উদ্দেশ্যে সিলেবাস কারিকুলাম এবং পাঠদান কর্মসূচিকে সাজানো হয়েছে।
Department of Political Science (1938)
The Department of Political Science was established as an integral part of the Department of Economics and Politics in 1921 since the inception of the University of Dhaka. It became an independent Department in 1938. At present, it is one of the largest Departments in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Dhaka. Every academic year some 220 students are enrolled in its undergraduate programme. The Department also offers MSS, M Phil and Ph. D degrees. Every year a fairly good number of students apply for M. Phil and Ph. D programmes intending to specialize in various fields of Political Science. Moreover, the Department has started another specialized academic stream of post graduation programme under its domain as Master in Governance Studies (MGS). At present the 6th Batch of this programme is running. Moreover, two batches have already finished their Master Degree programme successfully.
As part of academic programmes, the Department organizes lectures, discussions and special seminars. The training offered by the Department often reflects recent research on ongoing subject matters. The Department continues to maintain a congenial academic atmosphere for encouraging teaching commitment and research activity. Moreover, to impart latest knowledge of Political Science and Governance to the learners, the curriculum and learning system have been arranged in such a way that the requirements may be met accordingly.
