বিশ্বব্যাপী ফার্মেসী শিক্ষায় আধুনিকায়ন ও রোগের চিকিৎসায় সঠিক ওষুধ গুরুত্ব অনুধাবন করে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ফার্মেসী অনুষদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত ক্লিনিক্যাল ফার্মেসী এন্ড ফার্মাকোলজি বিভাগ এপ্রিল 2003 সালে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়। মানবদেহে ওষুধের ক্রিয়া-প্রতিক্রিয়া, ওষুধের বিষক্রিয়া, রোগের উৎপত্তি ও ধরনের উপর ভিত্তি করে নতুন নতুন ওষুধের পরিকল্পনা, কোষ পর্যায়ে ওষুধের ক্রিয়ার ধরন, জেনেটিক ভিন্নতা অনুসারে ওষুধের ক্রিয়ার তারতম্য ওষুধের যৌক্তিক ব্যবহার, ক্লিনিক্যাল ফার্মেসী, প্রাণী মডেলওষুধের ক্রিয়া-প্রতিক্রিয়ার অধ্যয়ন সাপেক্ষে ওষুধের মূল্যায়ন ও নতুন ওষুধ উদ্ভাবন প্রভৃতি বিষয়ের উপর ব্যাপক অধ্যয়ন ও গবেষণা এই বিভাগে পরিচালিত হয়। ফার্মেসী বিভাগ হতে সম্মান ডিগ্রি অর্জনের পর এই বিভাগ হতে ক্লিনিক্যাল ফার্মেসী এন্ড ফার্মাকোলজির উপর এম. ফার্ম. ডিগ্রি প্রদান করা হয়। এছাড়াও এই বিভাগে এম. ফিল. ও পিএইচ. ডি ডিগ্রি চালু রয়েছে। ব্যবহারিক শিক্ষা ও গবেষণা কাজের সহায়তার জন্য এ বিভাগে বেশ কয়েকটি অত্যাধুনিক গবেষণাগার আছে। গবেষণা সমূহের মধ্যে ডিএন. এ গবেষণাগার এবং ফার্মাকোজেনেটিক্স গবেষণাগার অন্যতম। প্রতিষ্ঠাকাল হতে এই বিভাগে সারা পৃথিবীর বেশ কয়েকটি নামকরা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের যৌথভাবে গবেষণা কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হয়ে আসছে।
Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology
The Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology of Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka was established in April 2003, considering the importance of modernization of Pharmacy education world-wide and selection of the proper drug to treat the specific disease. The academic and research activities conducted in this Department encompasses pharmacological effect of drugs, toxicity of drugs, drug design based on etiology and pathophysiology of diseases, interaction of drugs in cellular level, difference in drug activity depending on genetic variation, rational use of drugs, clinical pharmacy, evaluation of drug action based on animal model etc. This Department offers M. Pharm degree on clinical pharmacy and pharmacology to students with B. Pharm degree from the Department. Moreover, this Department offers both M. Phil and Ph. D degrees. Some cutting edge research laboratories are also available in this Department for practical and research activities. Among those laboratories, the DNA research lab and the Pharmacogenetics research lab are worth mentioning. Since its very inception, this Department has been collaborating with different renowned universities of the world on various research projects. At present one professor emeritus, five professors, three associate professors, eight assistant professors (six on leave), and six lecturers (one on leave) are working full-time in the Department.
