১৯৬৫ সালের সেপ্টেম্বর মাসে ফলিত পদাথ© বিজ্ঞান বিভাগ প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয় ইলেকট্রনিক্স এবং টেলিকম্যুনিকেশন সেক্টরের চাহিদার প্রেক্ষিতে এবং অধ্যাপক শাহ্ মো. ফজলুর রহমান ছিলেন তৎকালীন বিভাগীয় প্রধান।
সদ্য স্বাধীন হওয়া বাংলাদেশে ইলেকট্রনিক্সের ক্রমবর্ধমান চাহিদার জন্য বিভাগের নাম পরিবর্তন করে ১৯৭৪ সালে রাখা হয় ‘‘ফলিত পদার্থবিজ্ঞান ও ইলেকট্রনিকস” টেলিকম্যুনিকেশন ক্ষেত্রে আরো উন্নয়নের জন্য পরবর্তিতে ২০০৫ সালের অক্টোবর মাসে ডিপার্টমেন্টের নামকরণ করা হয়, ‘‘ফলিত পদার্থবিজ্ঞান, ইলেকট্রনিকস ও কমিউনিকেশন ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং” সব©শেষ ২০১৪ সালে বিভাগের পুনঃনামকরণ করা হয় ‘‘তড়িৎ ও ইলেকট্রনিক কৌশল” বিভাগ।

এই বিভাগ থেকে স্নাতক সম্পন্ন করার পর শিক্ষার্থীরা বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে/ক্ষেত্রে উচ্চ শিক্ষা ও গবেষণা সম্পন্ন করতে পারে। স্নাতক পাশ করা শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য রয়েছে বিভিন্ন স্কলারশিপ প্রোগ্রাম: কমনওয়েলথ স্কলারশিপ, MONBUKAGAKUSHO, DAAD, AUSAID, ERASMUS MUNDUS স্কলারশিপ।
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE)
In September 1965, the Department of Applied Physics was established with the objective of meeting the demand of expertise in the field of Electronics and Telecommunication and Professor Shah Md. Fazlur Rahman was the founder Head of the Department.
To meet the increasing demand in Electronics in the newly independent Bangladesh, the Department was renamed as the Department of Applied Physics and Electronics in 1974.
To facilitate further development in telecommunications, the Department was renamed as Department of Applied Physics, Electronics & Communication Engineering in October 2005. Finally the Department has been renamed as the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in December 2014 with updated curriculum.
Degrees Offered:
· B.Sc. Engg. – Four years (8 semesters) undergraduate programme.
· M.Sc. Engg. – 1.5 years (3 semesters) postgraduate programme.
· Ph. D – Doctor of Philosophy degree.

Students graduated from this Department can pursue higher studies and research in different areas. After graduation students can apply for Commonwealth scholarship, Monbukagakusho scholarship, DAAD scholarship, AUSAID Scholarship, ERASMUS MUNDUS scholarship, Fulbright scholarship and many other scholarships and research grants all over the world.
