নৃবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ (১৯৯২)
নৃবিজ্ঞান হলো মানুষ ও তার সংস্কৃতির সামগ্রিক অধ্যয়ন। প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক ও প্রায়োগিক অনুশীলনের মধ্যে দিয়ে নৃবিজ্ঞান সামাজিক বিজ্ঞানের একটি অন্যতম শাখা। ১৯৯২ সালের ৫ ডিসেম্বর ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে সামাজিক বিজ্ঞান অনুষদের একটি স্বতন্ত্র বিভাগ হিসেবে নৃবিজ্ঞানের প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক যাত্রা শুরু হয়। প্রতিষ্ঠার পর স্বল্প সংখ্যক শিক্ষক নিয়ে বিভাগের একাডেমিক কার্যক্রম শুরু হয় এবং ১৯৯৩ সালের জানুয়ারি মাসে প্রথম ব্যাচের ক্লাস অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। ইতোমধ্যে বিভাগ প্রতিষ্ঠার ২৫তম বর্ষে পদার্পণ করেছে। বিভাগের পূর্ণকালীন শিক্ষক ২২ জন এবং খণ্ডকালীন শিক্ষক ০২ জন। ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের জন্য বিভাগের নিজস্ব সেমিনার কক্ষ, কম্পিউটার ল্যাব, ক্লাস রুম ও ইন্টারনেটসহ অন্যান্য সুযোগ সুবিধা রয়েছে। এ বিভাগে অনার্স ও মাস্টার্স-এর পাশাপাশি এম. ফিল. এবং পিএইচ. ডি. গবেষণার সুযোগ রয়েছে। নিয়মিতভাবে এবং ঠিক সময়ে কোর্স সম্পন্ন ও পরীক্ষা গ্রহণের মধ্য দিয়ে এই বিভাগের পাঠদান কার্যক্রম সম্পন্ন করা হয়।
বিভাগের সার্বিক উন্নয়নের জন্য বিভাগের শ্রেণিকক্ষ, সেমিনার লাইব্রেরি, অফিস রুমের সংস্কার কার্য সম্পন্ন করা হয়েছে। ২০১৯ সালে নৃবিজ্ঞান বিভাগে “Biocultureal Resources and Climate Change: Assessing the Vulnerability and Resilience of Small Ethnic Communities in Bangladesh (BRCC)” এবং “Need Assessment in Education for the Children with Autism” শীর্ষক দুটি গবেষণা কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করা হয়েছে। এছাড়া “Changing Material Culture in South Asia” নামের একটি আন্তর্জাতিক কনফারেন্স অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। নৃবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ Society and Culture Lecture Series শীর্ষক বক্তৃতামালা নিয়মিতভাবে আয়োজন করে।
Department of Anthropology
Anthropology is the study of human beings and their culture. It is an important branch of social sciences. The Department started its academic curriculum under the Faculty of Social Sciences since December 05, 1992. The Department started with a limited number of Faculty members. The class of the first batch began from the month of January 1993 (session 1992-1993). The Department has 22 full-time and 2 part-time teachers. The Department has the facilities of classrooms, seminar library, computer lab and Internet for the students. The Department offers BSS (Hons.), MSS, M. Phil and Ph. D degrees for the students.
Recently, classroom, seminar and office rooms were renovated. In 2019, two research projects (1) “Biocultural Resources and Climate Change: Assessing the Vulnerability and Resilience of Small Ethnic Communities in Bangladesh (BRCC)” and (2) “Need Assessment in Education for the Children with Autism” were carried out at the Department. The Department has organized an international conference “Changing Material Culture in South Asia”. Anthropology Department regularly organizes “Society and Culture Lecture Series”. The Department has also some regular extra curriculum activities through visual anthropology club, debating club and study circle.
