Mexican Envoy calls on DU VC

Ambassador of Mexico to Bangladesh Ms. Melba Pria called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique today, April 4, 2017 at the latter’s office of the university. She was accompanied by Faisal Khan, Consul General of Mexico in Bangladesh. Spanish Visiting Professor            Ms. Maria Amparo Porta Rivas was present on this occasion.

 

During the meeting they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs by the University of Dhaka and higher educational institutions in Mexico. They stressed the need for exchange of teachers, students and cultural teams among the Dhaka University and various   Mexican universities. Holding of cultural events, seminars, symposia and exhibitions at DU campus under the joint auspices of Dhaka University different Mexican universities were also discussed in the meeting. They agreed to sign a MoU in this regard soon.

 

Later, Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique and Mexican Ambassador Ms. Melba Pria jointly inaugurated the two-day long photo exhibition on “Octavio Paz: Photo-Poetry Dialogues” at Nabab Nowab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. The Honorary Consulate of Mexico in Bangladesh organized this event in cooperation with Dhaka University. It may be mentioned that Octavio Paz (1914 – 1998) was a Mexican poet, writer and diplomat. He won the Novel Prize of Literature in 1990.
