I am currently working as a lecturer in the Department of Soil, Water & Environment at University of Dhaka since 2015. As a faculty member, my responsibilities include teaching, conducting research related to my field of study, student advising and motivation and supervising thesis students. I also helped in developing course curricula; organizing seminars, workshops, training programs, run projects with the collaboration of the students and assisted in cultural and extra-curricular activities.

I started my early career as a junior professional in Centre for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) which is a government research organization under the Ministry of Water Resources. It certainly provided me an excellent background in project implementation as I worked in a number of different projects. I was directly involved in preparing project proposals and reports and also participated in field surveys that made me dexterous about data collection and analysis. After serving there for more than one year, I joined at the University of Dhaka with a desire to encourage students to be more productive by finding out their inner strengths.

I worked as an intern in International Development Enterprise-Bangladesh (iDE-B) during the year 2012. In this organization, I assisted in preparing reports, project summaries, case studies, data collection, designing banners, posters and so on.

Moreover, I participated in a number of seminars, conferences and workshops that not only increased my experience but also reduced my knowledge gap. My training programs include Concept & Challenges of Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM), Biosafety and Environmental Hazards, Advanced Applications of GIS, SPSS & Applied STATA, Teaching and Learning (CoETL), etc.

I possess a strong passion for research that prompted me to conduct various research activities in my areas of interests. I published twelve papers till now both internationally and nationally in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Furthermore, there were some abstract publications and conference papers.

I want to facilitate and motivate the students of my department towards learning and taking interest in Soil, Water & Environment. I teach in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I am involved with teaching on Soil Chemistry, Soil Fertility, Soil Biochemistry, Agronomy & Agricultural Crops, GIS, Environmental Science, Soil Water Management, Environmental Impact Assessment. Besides I supervise seminar reports and postgraduate research students.

I was awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship in the United Kingdom for PhD (2018) funded by UK Government & Department for International Development (DFID). In 2010, I was awarded Dean’s Award from the Faculty of Biological Sciences at the University of Dhaka for my brilliant result in the BS (Honors) examination. I received National Science and Technology Fellowship from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Bangladesh, for undertaking research activities. Also, I received a number of stipends and medals during my undergraduate and postgraduate education for my extra-ordinary brilliant results. Some of these are Imamul Huq Stipend, Rabeya Khatun Stipend, Hamida Khatun Gold Medal, etc. I achieved National Merit Scholarship for Higher Secondary Result, BRAC Bank Merit Scholarship, Junior Scholarship and Primary Scholarship.

I am currently involved in research related to soil chemistry and soil microbiology. I am working on effects of biochar on bacterial growth promoting plant yield; legume-rhizobium analysis for different sources of biochar; gas evolution from waste sources; adverse effects of slums on surrounding soil, plant and water bodies; use of industrial effluents as a source irrigation for accelerating plant growth. Besides, I possess strong passion for biogeochemistrty, heavy metal, toxicology and environmental management.

The research findings will definitely benefit the people of our country. I am committed to make distinctive contributions where the perception and influence of Soil, Water & Environment will be clearly be expressed by linking and galvanizing scientists of our community and the communities worldwide. I am trying to make a positive contribution in the field of Soil Science, Agronomy as well as Environmental Science in order to promote sustainable agriculture and climate change mitigation.
